A History of Terror – Belfast Walking Tour
Every city’s history involves dark events. Between 1971 and 1998 Belfast City centre was the setting for many of the most tragic incidents of the conflict in Northern Ireland (The Troubles). This walking tour of the City Centre visits the sites of some of these events where you will learn about the Troubles, their place in the conflict and their legacy. The tour will allow you to explore the darkest period in Belfast’s recent past and see how far the city has come from those dark days and come to see the city centre in a new light.
Our guides are amongst the most knowledgeable conflict historians in Northern Ireland. The lead guide is a lecturer in History and Belfast native who was born in the year the Troubles started. The tour is balanced, objective and factual, historically accurate, educational and commemorative. In addition to our scheduled public tour, we can also accommodate private bookings for tour, cruise and coach groups, schools and colleges, and business and conference groups.
The tour lasts approximately 1 hour 45 minutes, leaving from the front gates of Belfast City Hall every day at 10.30am. The cost is £10 per person. For private bookings please contact us via email or telephone. The tour runs every day, with the exception of Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. You can join a tour on the day at the point of departure and simply pay your guide at the start. Alternatively, tickets can be bought from our website.
